Percy Harvin will have surgery on Thursday to deal with the injury that forced the Seahawks to place the receiver/returner/runner on the physical unable to perform list when training camp opened last week.

Harvin, who was obtained in an offseason trade with the Vikings, went to New York for a second opinion on the best way to deal with the injury. The club announced the need for surgery late Tuesday, but no other details were made available.

The versatile and prolific Harvin missed the final seven games last season because of an ankle injury. He was among the NFL leaders in receptions (62) and kickoff-return average (35.9) at the time of the injury.
