The Portland Winterhawks are champions of the Western Hockey League after skating to a 5-1 win Sunday in Game 6 of the WHL Finals in Edmonton.  The victory at Rexall Place gave Portland the series, 4 games to 2.

Ty Rattie earned MVP honors by capping his great playoff run with a hat trick. He broke the WHL record for career playoff goals in the process.

The 2012-13 Winterhawks join the 1981-82 and 1997-98 Portland teams as league champions.  They'll be playing for the Memorial Cup May 17-26 in Saskatoon vs. the champions of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and the winner of the Ontario Hockey League championship series.
