Last July, a cab driver was accused of kicking a lesbian couple out of his cab, and leaving the women along I-84.  The couple said the driver was throwing gay slurs at them, the driver said they were drunk and refused to pay.

The couple filed a report with Oregon's Bureau of Labor and Industry and BOLI did find that the driver violated the couple's civil rights.  The investigation found evidence to support the claims of the couple.

The complaint is now in BOLI's Administrative Prosecution Unit, which will try to bridge a settlement between the two parties.  So far, they have not reached a settlement.  There is still time for them to do so, but if no settlement is reached, the state could file formal charges against the driver.  Ahmed Egal was driving a Broadway cab, but is the sole-proprietor of the car and business.
