A nationwide beef recall involves nearly 9,000,000 pounds of meat.  Rancho Feeding Corporation in California sold the products for a year.  The USDA says the processed animals were diseased and unsound, which means they are not fit for consumption.

Gartner's Meat Market in Northeast Portland bought less than a hundred pounds of veal from the company last October.  Owner Rick Minor says he deals with tens-of-thousands of pounds of meat a month and does not deal with Rancho Feeding Corporation often.  He says he got no complaints from customers after selling the veal, but he is frustrated with the USDA.  He says he relies on the federal agency to tell him that products are safe.  Minor says it never should've gotten this far.

Other Oregon and Washington stores sold the meat as well.  You can get a full recall list on the USDA's website.
