Model predicts Oregon coronavirus cases will peak April 21
Social distancing efforts appear to be working in Oregon. Projections from theInstitute for Health Metrics and Evaluationin Washington suggest Oregon will weather the first wave of the epidemic without encountering a shortage of hospital beds or ventilators.
As of April 7, the IMHE forecasts Oregon will see "peak resource use" - hospital beds, ICU beds, ventilators andother hospital resources - on April 21.
"These forecasts were developed to help hospitals and health systems prepare for the surge of COVID-19 patients over the coming weeks," according to the IMHE.
