In the capsule today…

We find two Chicago television stations hijacked by a pirate broadcaster. Normal broadcasts were replaced with an unknown person wearing a Max Headroom mask and costume. The culprit was never caught or identified.

We find the Senate voting against the nomination of Robert Bork to the Supreme Court. Republicans claimed that it was the first time a jurist was rejected for his views. Democrats claimed that Bork’s inflammatory views were that of an extremist.

And we find a song on the radio by John Mellencamp. The song reflects on Mellencamp's teenage years hanging out at a dance club with friends. The name of the club was changed in the song to “Cherry Bomb.” The name of the club in real life was “The Last Exit” in Seymour, Indiana.
