In the capsule today…
We find Argentinian soccer player Diego Maradona scoring a handball goal in a FIFA World Cup match against England. The goal was allowed, as it was not caught by the referees, though it was clear to the television audience. He later said it wasn’t his hand… but rather the “Hand of God.” England lost the match after another goal by Maradona, that one known as “The Goal of the Century."
We find a new sitcom on ABC. Though never a big ratings success, “Perfect Strangers” somehow ran for eight seasons. The show follows the rocky coexistence of Larry Appleton and his distant cousin from eastern Europe, Balki Bartokomous.
And we find a song by Berlin on the radio. “Take My Breath Away” comes from the Top Gun soundtrack. The steamy love scene over which the song plays was not originally in the film. Test audiences asked for something more intimate, so Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis to the set for the bedroom scene. They are seen in silhouette because by then, Kelly had dyed her hair for another movie.
