In the time capsule today…
We find the first and only NFL players strike... which lasted 57 days. A reconfigured playoff season was one of the results, with the "Super Bowl tournament” expanded to 16 teams.
We find the introduction to the compact disc. The original playing time was supposed to be 60 minutes, but the vice-president of Sony demanded 74 minutes to accommodate his favorite recording of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.
And we find a song on the radio by the Stray Cats. The band performed under a number of names including the Tomcats, the Teds, and Bryan and the Tom Cats… to fool club owners into hiring the band for consecutive nights.
