In the time capsule today…
We find the movie “Saturday Night Fever” in theaters. The screenplay was based on a New York Magazine article titled "Tribal Rites of the New Saturday Night." Writer Nik Cohn later acknowledged that he fabricated the article.
We find a devastating plane crash in Mississippi. The plane ran out of fuel, and the accident claimed the lives of three members of Lynyrd Skynyrd, with the rest of the band sustaining serious injuries.
And we find a song on the radio by Heart. The song was written about the band’s anger towards their record company Mushroom Records. As a publicity stunt, the label, without any input from the group, published a story of an incestuous affair between sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson.
