In the time capsule today…
We find the premiere of “Full House” on ABC. To comply with child labor laws, twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were cast to alternate in the role of Michelle during tapings. They were jointly credited with a single name "Mary Kate Ashley Olsen" in seasons two through seven because producers did not want the audience to know the character was played by twins.
We find President Reagan delivering the “Berlin Wall” speech at the Brandenburg Gate in West Berlin. The speech received little media coverage at the time, and only became widely known after the fall of the Berlin Wall two years later.
And we find a song on the radio from Fleetwood Mac’s fourteenth studio album “Tango in the Night.” The song hit number one on the charts, and was their first single to be issued on a cassette tape!
