In the time capsule today…
We find Motorola introducing the first mobile phone in the United States. The DynaTAC 8000X cost $4000, and became a huge status symbol.
We find a new show by Jim Henson on HBO. Jim described “Fraggle Rock” as "a high-energy, raucous, musical romp,” though the Muppet characters mostly dealt with serious issues in the episodes.
And we find a song on the radio by Billy Joel. Bill wrote the song “Tell Her About It” after meeting his future wife Christie Brinkley, saying that she was the first person he could ever spend hours just talking with.
