Last week, shared a recent report revealing the most popular holiday dishes from around the country based on searches of three recipe sites, but now a new report has an alternative take on what may turn up on Thanksgiving tables across the country.

Google has just come out with their list of the most Googled side dishes per state, based on data from searches over the past three Novembers. Favorites include corn casserole, ambrosia salad and mashed potatoes but you may be surprised at which states prefers what.

Among the most Googled Thanksgiving side dishes per state (click here for the complete list):

  • Alabama – Squash Casserole
  • California – Stuffing
  • Michigan – Roasted Brussels Sprouts
  • New Jersey – Butternut Squash Soup
  • New York – Acorn Squash
  • Louisiana – Yams
  • Ohio – Seven Layer Salad
  • Oregon – Ambrosia Salad
  • Texas – Broccoli Rice Casserole
  • Wisconsin – Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Google also revealed the most popular Thanksgiving desserts per state, based on searches from last Thanksgiving and sweet potato pie, pumpkin pie and pecan pie dominate the list, although the folks in Maine may be getting something different. They’re the only state that didn’t pick one of those three, instead googling Chocolate Cream Pie. Um, I want to go to Maine for Thanksgiving now.
