Woman Sues California After They Failed To Act On Her 'Bigfoot' Sighting

A California woman is suing the state in an effort to prove that Bigfoot exists. According to ABC 30, Claudia Ackley told authorities she saw the mythical creature hiding in the trees last year while hiking with her daughters. Every agency she called told her the same thing, she didn't see a sasquatch, she just saw a bear.

Ackley was hiking with her daughters in the San Bernardino mountains when her daughters noticed the large creature staring at them from the trees. She pulled out her phone and started recording. She described the creature as "a Neanderthal man with a lot of hair" that weighed around 800 pounds.

"He looked like a Neanderthal man with a lot of hair," Ackley said. "About 800 pounds. I was trying to tell it to please not hurt us, and that's when he just stared at me."

She called 911 to report the sighting, but the dispatcher told her it was just a bear. After being ignored by local officials, she shared the footage with Todd Standing, a filmmaker who recently worked on the Netflix film Discovering Bigfoot

Ackley is no stranger to the tales of Bigfoot. According to the Press-Enterprise, she has been studying the creature for over 20 years.

The 46-year-old filed a lawsuit against the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the state Natural Resources Agency to force the agencies to acknowledge "the existence of the Sasquatch species."

Ackley says the state must admit that Bigfoot exists because there is "documented and scientific evidence" of its existence and ignoring the species could put the public at risk.

“People have to be warned about these things. They are big,” Ackley said. “We’re totally vulnerable to these things.”
