Woman Buys $600 Worth Of Girl Scout Cookies, Tells Girls To Give Them Away

One woman's act of kindness and generosity inspired others to do the same. Two Girl Scouts were selling cookies outside of a grocery store in the suburbs of Seattle when a woman approached them and offered to buy over $600 worth of cookies from the girls, but there was one catch. The girls had to give away the cookies to customers as they left the store.

Norah Wall, who was working the table with her friend Ruthie Bridgman said she was surprised by the request and wasn't sure what to do.

“At first, I was really surprised. I didn’t know what to do,” Girl Scout Norah Wall said.

“I remember this lady coming up and she was like, ‘Hey, if I buy all these cookies, will you hand them out to everyone that comes out of the store?’” Ruthie said. “And we were like, ‘Yeah, I guess.’”

The girls admitted they had a tough time giving away the cookies because people could not believe they were free.

“Some people just didn't believe that somebody would actually do that,” Norah said.

News of the woman's act of kindness spread through the store with customers paying it forward throughout the day. Cami Nearhoff, who was working as a cashier at the grocery store said that one lady paid for the groceries of other customers in line, the acts of generosity did not stop there.

“All day it just seemed like people were doing little things. So I think it kind of inspired people to give back to each other. Whether it was a dollar, someone was short six cents -- all day long it was happening. It was just crazy. Really crazy day,” Nearhoff said.

The girls were happy that the actions of the woman helped inspire other people to do good deeds.

“I think it's really cool and it made me so happy that I was able to be a part of this,” Ruthie said.

The girls said they were raising money to attend Girl Scout camp later in the year.
