Colin O’Brady is the first person to make a solo trek across Antarctica. O'Brady is from Portland! He completed the historic journey yesterday (12/26). The 33-year-old started his 54-day trek in early November, and posted updates on Instagram. The journey, 930 miles long, was previously deemed “impossible” by scientists.
O'Brady traveled unassisted across Earth's coldest continent, dragging a 375-pound sled. The last leg of the journey was 80 miles and took well over a day to complete.
English adventurer Louis Rudd is currently on the same journey and O’Brady is staying until Rudd crosses the “finish line.”
