Carson Time Capsule... Tuesday, July 21

In the capsule today…

We find a deodorant marketed to teens… with the name soon adopted by Kurt Cobain for the title track on Nirvana’s second album.

We find Steve Martin playing a father struggling with his daughter’s engagement in a remake of a 1950 film, "Father of the Bride."

And we find a song on the radio by REM. Michael Stipe was surprised that the record company picked the track as a single… as it has no chorus and a mandolin for a lead instrument. The song ended up being the biggest hit of their career.

What is the year? (answer below).

The year... 1991!
