Carson Time Capsule... Wednesday, September 9th.

In the capsule today…

We find intensive media coverage of hippie life in the Haight-Ashbury drawing the attention of youth from all over America. As many as 100,000 people made the trip to San Francisco to see it for themselves, in what became known as the “Summer of Love.”

The summer had a flip-side with violent race riots in Atlanta, Boston, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Chicago, New York City, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Detroit and more… over 150 in total. It was know as the “Long Hot Summer.”

And we find a song on the radio by Diana Ross and the Supremes. Holland-Dozier-Holland wrote "Reflections" after demanding publishing rights to their songs and then being rebuffed by Motown head Barry Gordy. The song went to #1, but marked the end of the writing team's work for Motown. Gordy moved Motown to Los Angeles shortly thereafter.

What is the year? (answer below).
