In the capsule today…

We find a man standing up to a column of tanks at the Tiananmen Square protests. AP photographer Jeff Widener snapped a series of pictures of the event. The “tank man” pictures became a global symbol of dignity in the face of violent repression.

We find the United States invading the country of Panama. Panamanian leader, general and dictator Manuel Noriega, a drug trafficker who for a long time worked with the CIA, was captured months later.

And we find a song on the radio by Phil Collins. Phil wrote “Another Day In Paradise” after a stay in Washington DC. He was amazed by “how many people I saw living in boxes."
