In the capsule today…
We find the opening of the first Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre in San Jose, California.
We find a Burt Reynolds movie about a bootlegger hauling 400 cases of Coors beer from Texarkana to Atlanta. Burt did the film as a favor to his friend, stuntman turned director Hal Needham. Burt told Hal that the script was the worst he’s ever read. And on a budget of $4 million, "Smokey and the Bandit" grossed $300 million worldwide.
And we find a song on the radio by Peter Gabriel. Peter wrote the song on the eponymous hill near his hometown of Bath, England. “Solsbury Hill” is auto-biographical, about the challenge of leaving Genesis to start a solo career.
