In the capsule today…
We find the Damascus Titan Missile Accident in Arkansas. A dropped ratchet pierced the fuel tank of a missile, leading to an explosion that ejected its 9-megaton nuclear warhead out of the silo. The safety features worked, though the accident had dire implications.
On the television we find the first ever 24-hour news network: CNN. Husband and wife team Dave Walker and Lois Hart anchored the channel's first newscast, along with weatherman Flip Spiceland.
And we find a song on the radio by The Clash. The title of the song does not one time appear in the song lyrics… rather it comes from the song’s train rhythm, combined with the theme of being lost.
