In the capsule today…

We find the release of the first major home video game system, the Atari 2600. The “Video Computer System” came with two joystick controllers, and the game Combat.

We find Congress lifting the ban on Concorde flights into New York’s JFK airport. The ban stemmed from citizen protests over potential sonic booms.

And we find a song on the radio by Fleetwood Mac. While recording the song, Lindsey Buckingham had his acoustic guitar re-stringed every 20 minutes to maintain the sharp picking sound. After many hours, and many strings, he finished “Never Going Back Again.”
