In the capsule today…
We find the debut of a martial-arts television series on ABC starring David Carradine. “Kung Fu” follows the adventures of a Shaolin monk who travels through the American West, armed with martial arts and spiritual training.
We find the Pittsburgh Steelers winning their first ever postseason game, defeating the Oakland Raiders with a last second play... that becomes known as the “Immaculate Reception”.
And we find a song on the radio by Paul Simon. But in England, the BBC refused to play the song because of the reference to Newsweek magazine. The British Broadcasting Corporation had a very strict policy against product mentions.
