Carson Time Capsule... Monday, February 1st.

In the capsule today…

We find black comedy mystery-film in theaters, based on the board game Clue. “Clue” featured three different endings…. with newspaper ads indicating which final scene was playing at which movie theater.

We find Bill Cosby touting the updated taste of Coke. Only seventy-nine days after the reformulation, the company announced a return to the original Coca-Cola flavor. The fiasco led Bill to end his advertising contract with Coke, claiming that his commercials praising the superiority of the new formula hurt his credibility.

And we find a song on the radio by Prince. Prince was, at the time, under fire from Tipper Gore’s Parents Music Resource Center… and decided to release a less blatantly sexual song, this one about a teenage romance with a girl who wears a European style of hat.
