From square one, I thought Bruce Springsteen got the shaft. Much ado about nothing. But the courts thought differently. Charging the Boss with drinking alcohol on federal land, DWi and driving recklessly. This is the transcript of the court appearance. Literally all of 10 minutes. The Boss plead guilty to the consumption of alcohol on federal property. Two small shots of tequila with fans. The government couldn't prove the DWI or reckless driving charges so they were dropped. So after reviewing the Boss' driving record, only three minor violations since 1973 the judge imposed a $500 fine plus $40. Before dismissing the judge asked Springsteen how much time he would need to pay the fine. The Boss answered "I can pay immediately your honor." The judge replied, "Mr. Springsteen, I will give you one week to pay this fine."
