In the time capsule today…

We find Sally Field in an Academy Award winning performance in the film “Norma Rae.” The film is based on the true story of Crystal Lee Sutton, a union organizer, who was fired when she demanded better working conditions at a North Carolina textile factory.

We find a new Prime Minister arriving at 10 Downing Street with a firebrand nickname, “The Iron Lady.” Margaret Thatcher led the United Kingdom for more than a decade, over which time she was known as the most powerful woman in the world.

And we find a song on the radio by Sister Sledge. The group consists of four sisters whose last names are Sledge. Their grandmother was an opera singer who taught the girls how to harmonize. The group recorded “We Are Family” in one take.
