In the time capsule today…
We find the royal wedding between Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer. Their marriage was widely billed as a "fairytale" and considered the "wedding of the century". It was watched by a global TV audience of 750 million people.
We find “On Golden Pond” in theaters, which is based on a play of the same name. Jane Fonda purchased the rights to the play specifically so that her father, Henry Fonda, could play the lead role. The father-daughter rift depicted on screen closely paralleled the real-life relationship between Jane and her father.
And we find “Don't Stand So Close To Me” on the radio by The Police. Sting wrote this song by coming up with the title first. He calls this his “work backward” method where, “I pluck a title from the air, and then try to figure out a story that it could apply to."
