Carson Time Capsule... Monday, May 3rd.

In the time capsule today…

We find an iconic movie in theaters starring Richard Roundtree. According to director Gordan Parks, “Shaft” was created with the simple idea to be a fun film, with which “people could see a black guy winning.”

We find Portland State University student Carolyn Davidson, delivering her design idea for a NIKE logo to Phil Knight. Phil wasn’t initially a fan of the idea, but the price was right.

And we find a song on the radio by Marvin Gaye. The song's inspiration came from a member of the Four Tops, who witnessed police violence directed at an anti-war protest in Berkeley.
