Carson Time Capsule... Thursday, June 3rd.

In the time capsule today…

We find a Walt Disney animated adventure musical comedy film in theaters: “Robin Hood.” To save time in production, animators recycled several dance sequences from previous Disney films, including Snow White and The Jungle Book.

We find the first U.S. space station being launched by NASA. Skylab was occupied by three separate crew for a half of a year before it was abandoned. Skylab crashed to Earth to worldwide media attention at the end of the decade.

And on the radio, we find a re-release from David Bowie. The song was originally released in 1969 to coincide with the Moon Landing, however it was not a chart success at that time, possibly due to its dark tone. The BBC actually refused to play the song until the Apollo 11 crew had safely returned.
