In the time capsule today…

We find the passing of Karen Carpenter at the age of 32. Karen died of heart failure due to anorexia, which was a little-known disorder at the time.

We find President Ronald Reagan addressing the nation to announce the creation of a new missile defense program. The program was soon dubbed “Star Wars” by a skeptical press.

And we find a song on the radio by Lionel Richie. An unknown Richard Marx sang backup vocals on the track, and it was his first ever job in music.
