Carson Time Capsule... Friday, June 18th.

In the time capsule today…

We find the Summer Olympic Games opening in Los Angeles. It marked the second time that Los Angeles had hosted the Games, the first being in 1932.

We find the movie Footloose in theaters. The film is loosely based on Elmore City, Oklahoma… a town that had banned dancing since its founding in 1898. When the local high school petitioned to hold a prom for the first time ever, a local reverend chided, "No good has ever come from a dance.”

And we find a song by Hall and Oates on the radio. John Oates said of the song: "Soul matters. Roots matter. They're the source of the power that sets you apart from the molecules in the wallpaper."
