Touring 26' Tall Marilyn Monroe Statue Greeted By Palm Springs Protestors

The people of Palm Springs were not happy when a 26' stainless steel statue of Marilyn Monroe was put on display. Why? What they called it here. Photo: Getty/Backgrid/TMZ

The unveiling of this already controversial Marilyn Monroe statue in Pam Springs fired up residents and came to the feet of the statue in droves carrying protest signs and calling it a Misogynistic Eyesore. The statue titled "Forever Marilyn" is an art piece the city hopes will draw scores of tourists this summer to boost local revenue. The statue is modeled after her iconic scene in the movie "The 7 year itch" when she stands on a sidewalk vent and the wind blows her skirt up. Apparently the biggest issue is that you can see her underwear from the back side of the statue. Check it out and decide for yourself.
