In the time capsule today…

We find IBM unveiling the first ever laptop computer, named the PC Convertible. The convertible also introduced the 3½-inch floppy disk format, down from the rather large 5 1/4” size.

We find the movie “Pretty in Pink” in theaters. The film originally portrayed Andie and Duckie ending up together, however test audiences booed the ending and it had to be rewritten by writer John Hughes.

And we find a song on the radio featured on the “Pretty in Pink” soundtrack. After John Hughes changed the ending to the film, he asked OMD to create a song to help tie the film together. “If You Leave” was written and recorded in under 24 hours.
