Carson Time Capsule... Friday, July 16th.

In the capsule today…

We find Stuntman Evel Knievel attempting to launch himself across Idaho’s Snake River Canyon in a steam-powered rocket. The rocket failed, and Evel was lucky to survive.

We find a movie about a New York subway hijacking. The MTA reluctantly helped the production, but required the producers to buy a $20 million “kook coverage” insurance policy... in case the film inspired a real-life hijacking. Walter Matthau stars in “The Taking of Pelham One Two Three.”

And we find a song on the radio by The Eagles. “Already Gone” is one of the few Eagles songs not written by a member of the group, but rather by songwriters. Jack Temp-chin and Robb Strandlund, were friends of the band, and sent a tape of their song idea via the mail.
