In the time capsule today…
We find a Major League Baseball team that only lasted for one year. The Seattle Pilots declared bankruptcy after one season. The team then moved to Milwaukee and were renamed The Brewers. The Pilots blue and gold colors remain in place today.
We find a landmark counterculture film in theaters, starring Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson. Real drugs were used while filming the scenes for Easy Rider.
And we find a song on the radio by Sly & Family Stone. The track was released after the band's high-profile performance at Woodstock. The early morning set is considered to be one of the best performances of the festival.
