We find a plane crashing into the 14th Street Bridge in Washington DC. Only four passengers and one crew member survived. Four motorists were also killed on the bridge.
We find the launch of home computer the Commodore 64! It becomes the best-selling personal computer model of all time.
And we find “Gypsy” on the radio by Fleetwood Mac. Mick Fleetwood said of the song, "It crystallized our mid-30s, as we started to look back at our lost youth."
