In the time capsule today…
We find the debut of Chuck E. Cheese in San Jose, California. Chuck E. was an anthropomorphic rat until 1993, at which time he was changed to a mouse.
We find a Burt Reynolds movie in theaters about a bootlegger driving 400 cases of Coors beer from Texarkana to Atlanta. Burt thought that the script was the worst he’d ever read. But on a budget of $4 million, “Smokey and the Bandit” grossed $300 million worldwide.
And we find “Movin' Out” on the radio by Billy Joel. The sound of a motorcycle driving away at the end is actually a 1960s Corvette, owned by bass player Doug Stegmeyer.
