We find the launch of The Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, otherwise known as D.A.R.E. Studies have repeatedly shown D.A.R.E. to be ineffective.
We find “The Outsiders” in movie theaters. Director Francis Ford Coppola became interested in the project after receiving a letter from a school librarian suggesting a film adaptation of the book.
And on the radio we find "Modern Love" by David Bowie. The track was produced by Nile Rodgers of the disco band Chic.
