Bystanders Keep Out Of Control Carnival Ride From Toppling

Fairgoers at the Cherry Festival in Traverse City, Michigan started hearing screams and noticed that something was very wrong with the magic carpet ride known as Typhoon.

It's a giant pendulum type ride that spins a large vessel of riders dozens of feet in the air.

The base of the ride, which appears to be a trailer was lifting off the ground and swaying back and forth. Perhaps it wasn't staked or weighted down. Each time the ride reached peak elevation, it looked like disaster was near.

Fortunately these bystanders, at possible risk to themselves, stood at the base of the ride and stabilized it.

Here's another angle.
