With the stroke of a pen, Russell Wilson has job security and a place in NFL history.
It appeared Seattle and Wilson wouldn’t come to terms by the deadline of midnight, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter says the two sides have reached a landmark deal.
According to him, the Seahawks and Wilson are agreeing to a four-year, $140 million extension that includes a $65 million signing bonus and makes the quarterback the highest-paid player in the NFL. That keeps the face of the team intact through 2023.
Russell even posted a video, just after midnight, on Twitter letting fans know they can relax. In it, he and wife Ciara are cuddled up in bed as they say they can get some sleep and “see you in the morning” It’s captioned “SEATTLE. Let’s get it.”
