Some people are just meant to go into the pest control business. This man is not one of those people.
Dave Schmida is from Massachusetts and he found a huge hornet's nest on the roof of his family's roof last week. In an effort to rid the property of these pesky hornets, he first tried using Raid, an insecticide, but that didn’t work. So instead, he went for something with a bit more fire power. He grabbed some old fireworks.
The good news is that his brother Matthew was next to him filming the entire ordeal as they attempted to shoot down the nest. The video shows Dave firing three shots toward the hornets nestled into a corner of the roof on the third floor of their home. His first three shots missed but the fourth hit its target, and the hornet’s nest went up in flames. However, so did the roof.
He then went upstairs and put the fire out with a fire extinguisher. Dave can be seen in the video leaning out of the window with a fire extinguisher in his hands. The roof suffered minimal damage; some boards were burned and now there’s a small hole in the house.
This was NOT the best way to take down a hornet’s nest
