Illinois Woman Pays $345 Library Fine, Which Is a Guinness World Record

When Emily Canellos-Simms found a book of children's poems from the Kewanee Public Library in Illinois in her mother's house, she probably didn't think that it would lead to a world record, UPI reports.

Canellos-Simms found that the book Days and Deeds that had been checked out on April 19, 1955. When she returned it, she found the fine had accumulated .02 cents per day, for a fine of $345.14.

Even though she hadn't checked it out, she paid the fine, which turned out to be the largest library fine ever paid and is now a Guinness World Record.
