Woman Killed In Crash Near Harrisburg

A female driver was killed in a crash Saturday morning east of Harrisburg.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office says the vehicle was driving on Diamond Hill Drive near Weatherford Road when it went off the road, hit a culvert, flew 80-feet in the air, landed on the road and stopped in a field.

The driver, 51-year-old Jamie Nephew of Salem, was able to get out of the vehicle, but died nearby.

The male passenger, Robert Sims Junior of Salem, was trapped by his seat belt. It had to be cut off to get him out of the car. He was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Investigators say drugs may have played a role in the crash.
