Morrison Bridge To Close On Sunday

The Morrison Bridge will be closed on Sunday, February 24 from 7 a.m. until as late as 4 p.m. during annual maintenance work on the river spans.

The Morrison Bridge will be closed to all modes of traffic on Sunday, February 24 from 7 a.m. until as late as 4 p.m. during annual maintenance work on the river spans. The drawbridge will be in the raised position during much of the day. The work will not impact river users and is not weather dependent.

Ramps between the bridge and Interstate 5 and Interstate 84 will be closed on Sunday, except for the ramp from the Morrison Bridge westbound to I-5 north. While the I-5 southbound City Center/Morrison Bridge off-ramp (exit 300) will be closed, the I-5 southbound ramp to Highway 99E/U.S. 26 will be open except from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. When the ramp is closed, motorists will detour to Highway 99E by turning left on SE Grand Ave., left on SE Alder St. and left on Highway 99E (SE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.). Motorists can access I-84 eastbound at NE Grand Ave. and NE Everett St.

To access downtown Portland from the freeways during the closure, I-5 southbound drivers can exit at the Rose Quarter/Broadway Bridge and I-84 westbound drivers can exit at Rose Quarter/Weidler exits.

The Hawthorne Bridge and Burnside Bridge are nearby alternate crossings for bicyclists and pedestrians. During the closure, TriMet’s 15-Belmont/NW 23rd bus route will detour to the Hawthorne Bridge.

Multnomah County maintains the Morrison Bridge and five other Willamette River bridges. For more information, visit www.multco.us/bridges or follow us on Twitter @MultCoBridges.
