Road Construction To Cause Delays On Highway 22

Travelers who will be using OR 22/U.S. 20 between the Willamette Valley and Central Oregon are reminded that there could be delays of at least 20 minutes at the Tumble Creek Bridge just west of Detroit from Sunday morning until Saturday evening.

During the three month project at least one lane will remain open continuously 24-7 with flaggers controlling two-way traffic. Travelers need to be aware that during periods of heavy congestion, such as Sunday evenings, there could be long delays. During these periods, travelers may want to consider an alternative route such as using OR 126 at Santiam Junction with access to Interstate 5.

A contractor working for the Oregon Department of Transportation is grinding and removing existing asphalt on the Tumble Creek Bridge, installing a waterproof membrane, repaving the bridge, reconstructing the bridge approaches and upgrading the guardrail.

After April 19, both lanes of traffic are open on weekends until Sunday at 9 p.m.
