3-Year-Old Wanders Away From Home

Portland Police have found the parents of a 3-year-old girl who wandered away from her home early Wednesday morning.

The girl walked 14 blocks before she entered a home near Northeast 28th and Prescott.

She wasn't able to tell the resident her name.

Police were searching a 14 block area when the girl's father called police.

Sergeant Brad Yakots says the father was very distraught.

The Oregon Department of Human Services will interview the family before returning the child.

Yakots says it's a good reminder to parents to secure doors and windows, so children can't wander away.
