Miniature Australia Shepherd Finds Missing Girl

A grandmother who was walking with her grandchildren in the Molalla Recreation Area Thursday got separated from her two-year-old granddaughter.

There's no cell service in the area. She got loggers to help look.

Tammy Stevens, of Beavercreek, was riding her horse in the area and she joined the search. About 20 minutes later, she heard crying. She told her miniature Australian Shepherd, Wilson, to find the girl and she did.

Iris Nix was 70 feet up an extremely steep slope. Stevens reached Iris and brought her back to the trail.

As they were riding back they met a logger who was helping with the search and he took Iris back to deputies. She was checked by paramedics and reunited with her family.
