Fire Destroys Shirley's Tippy Canoe

Around 5 a.m. Friday, 911 was called about smoke coming from Shirley's Tippy Canoe on the Historic Columbia River Highway.

When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was coming from the building and flames were coming from the roof.

Corbett Fire Chief Dave Flood says the metal roof made it difficult to fight from the outside.

The building is a total loss.

Flood says they may have to bring in an excavator to pull the debris apartment put out the hot spots.

No one was hurt in the fire.

The cause is under investigation.
