A person who was apparently skiing high on Mt. Hood died in a fall.
The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says the person climbed to the Illumination Saddle area.
A member of Portland Mountain Rescue found the person around the 9,400 foot elevation.
The person died before help could arrive.
A recovery effort was launched to bring the person off the mountain.
The person's name hasn't been released.
