Interstate Bridge Closure Planned Saturday Night

ODOT will close the northbound span of the Interstate Bridge Saturday night, Sept. 18, for maintenance.

All three northbound lanes of Interstate 5 at the bridge will close at 11 p.m. with re-opening no later than 8 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 19. The sidewalk on the northbound span will also close but the sidewalk on the southbound span will remain open.

During the closure, Hayden Island will remain open to traffic from northbound I-5 but the northbound on-ramp to I-5 will be closed.

As a detour, Washington-bound travelers should take Interstate 84 east to northbound Interstate 205 over the Glenn Jackson Bridge into Washington.

During the closure, crews will carry out a variety of maintenance jobs, including deck patching, electrical work, testing of the traffic control system and adjustments to the counterweights on the lift span. In July, ODOT carried out similar work on the southbound span.

This project aligns with our efforts to maintain a modern and safe transportation system as spelled out in our Strategic Action Plan.
