Band's Instruments Stolen

A Bend-based band lost $15,000 worth of guitars and equipment in a car break-in while they were in Portland to perform at a charity event.

Lonnie Chapin, with Precious Byrd, tells KBND News their band rig was parked at the Lake Oswego Hilton Saturday night. They discovered the theft Sunday morning.

He says they head to Nashville this week.

"Luckily, we have backups that we will take with us and use those. That will get us through until hopefully someone can have some information or happens to see these guitars or hear about these guitars, and can contact us."

A five-string bass … a Gold Top Gibson Les Paul … and a “TMG” guitar custom-made in Bend were all taken, along with other critical gear.

Chapin says the band has learned insurance won’t pay for the loss.
